Store Spotlight: Welcome Bio Bazar
Father and daughter team, George and Marjolaine Fischer, are apparently in a quest to take over Rue Boulle near Bastille in the 11th arrondissement with their bio and eco-friendly universe. In 2013 they opened Welcome Bio Magasin, a grocery store at 10 rue Boulle. A year later they found a space across the street at 11 Rue Boulle for Welcome Bio Cuisine, a small bio restaurant using produce from the store. And most recently in the Fall of 2016, they opened Welcome Bio Bazar, a concept store and cafe at number 13.
The company’s motto is “vous etês more than welcome.” And that welcoming vibe is what you feel in the spaciously decorated new store. (Likewise in the restaurant and grocery store.) The well-lit, beautiful and inviting space was designed by interior designer and MANNA contributor Lélia Thimonier. “I wanted people to feel like they are in the places I love in little Italy in New York and in Milano, but only using natural materials, natural wood, creamy white organic paint, stones, bricks, plants, recycled wood, craft studio look, etc…” she said in response to her design thought process for the space.
You will find objects for the kitchen near the cafe, decorative objects, a craft and knitting area, eyewear, as well as textiles. The lower level has a large area with children’s toys and decorative objects, and a section for bath products and cleaning solutions. For those with little city terraces or for the lucky ones with large outdoor spaces, there is a beautiful plant nursery with with green plants and succulents by Mama Petula.
The cafe opens at 10am with a menu that changes daily but stays consistent with organic and healthy fare.
