Saturday Morning Manna
The past week somehow just flew by for me. It started full of meetings and trying to stay organized and productive. (When I laid out my vision for the year these were two important themes, but it does not come easy to me.) Then mid-week I went to London for a book signing at the Karl Lagerfeld store on Regent Street. The weather was beyond perfect so I enjoyed walking and lounging around cafes to work. For some reason I wasn’t too interested in shopping or doing the tourist thing this trip.
I hung around for a few extra days to visit one of my first Paris girlfriends who moved to London after 20 years as an expat here. It was interesting to hear how she is now feeling some of the same emotions and challenges she experienced when she first moved to Paris—and there is not even a language barrier. In fact, most of her new mamma friends there are French women! I wonder what that is like to finally get comfortable with your life in another country, then have to start all over again. I am really curious about this and would love to hear anyone’s experience in the comments below or send me an email if you would like to contribute a story about this.
My week ended on a rather stressful note. My husband dropped my daughter off at the halte-garderie and headed straight to the airport on a last-minute work trip to Thailand. The plan was for me to arrive from London in time to pick her up. That was for sure a risky move on our part that pretty much failed! I missed my stinking train!!! So there was no one to pick the kid up and I freaked out for a bit. It’s moments like this I deeply feel the loss of not having best friends and family close by to help out. I could’ve simply asked someone to go get her and keep her for a few hours. Living far from home can be really challenging, despite the rewards of life in such a beautiful city. Well lucky for me the directrice at our daycare is a saint and was not bothered at all about keeping my daughter for a few extra hours until I arrived. Maybe I should add “cultivate a second family here” on my vision board for 2016.
Hope you guys enjoy these links . Have a lovely weekend.

I finally feel like I need to pay attention to this Zika talk.
Allegedly how you and your partner sleep in the bed says a lot?
A little laugh for breastfeeding friends.
And this parody is a good laugh for all parents!
I have sworn never ever to buy my daughter a Barbie, but I might reconsider thanks to the new ones.
I have said it before, but I really need to reconsider my approach to screen time with my child.
Totally in love with this dress!
