Prenatal Yoga & Acupuncture Workshop
Prenatal Yoga & Acupuncture Workshop with Hayley Enright and Katie Ribas
Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
35 rue St. Roch 75001 – Salle St. Exupery
In this workshop moms-to-be can enjoy the benefits of yoga and acupuncture in one convenient place! The first hour will be devoted to introductions and the yoga practice, followed by acupuncture treatment during the second hour, which will be applied to points on the body while in a relaxation posture. Time for questions will be available after the treatment and practice.
The objective of Prenatal Yoga according to the de Gasquet method implemented by Katie in this workshop is not only to do movements and postures in the class that help alleviate aches and other unpleasant sensations that can occur during pregnancy, but also to provide the future mother with guidance about how to move wisely throughout the day in her new and changing body. In addition to the yoga postures we will discuss and move through transitions – such as standing to sitting to lying down and vice versa – that emphasize avoiding abdominal contractions and closing off the space of the torso. Also, while doing the postures we will talk about their specific purpose and function during this prenatal period so the mom-to-be will leave with knowledge of simple yet effective movements and positions she can do during the day as symptoms and discomforts arise.
Acupuncture is loved by moms-to-be all over the world for its safe and gentle methods of dealing with issues common in pregnancy: nausea, back pain, insomnia, low immunity, fatigue, constipation and the rest. It’s also excellent for tune-ups. As we know, this is an important time to take care of mom so baby has the optimal circumstances for growing into a healthy child. In this workshop Hayley will focus on the meridians and organs that nourish both baby and mother, and provide a balancing treatment that will help your body relax during this amazing journey.
